Bert Brals, system architect at Sioux Technologies, received the prestigious Rien Koster Award for his valuable contributions to mechatronic design yesterday afternoon during the Precision Fair. The award, organized by DSPE, was presented for the tenth time this year.

Brals is known as a creative inventor and a hands-on leader who inspires many colleagues. He has successfully completed numerous projects and works closely with designers. Brals delivers practical solutions that meet performance requirements and goals, such as reducing costs and improving machine maintenance. He has several patents to his name and meticulously documents design details, which is essential for production and maintenance. This underlines his high level of professionalism.
DSPE emphasizes the importance of design in the precision industry, in which the Netherlands holds a leading position worldwide. The Rien Koster Award honors mechatronic engineers who have made significant contributions to the field. The jury, led by Ton Peijnenburg of VDL ETG, assessed candidates based on their work, creativity, relevance and professionalism. Winners must have at least 15 years of experience and be able to effectively apply theory in practice.
